Heat Treatment for A516/ SA516 Series Steels:

1.Thickness ≤1.5in, (40mm): Steel plate is usually supplied in rolling state, steel plate can also be normalized or stress relief, or normalizing and stress relief orders;

2. Thickness >1.5in.(40mm): Steel plate should be normalized;

3. Unless otherwise specified by the buyer, when there is the requirement of notch toughness, steel plate with thickness ≤1.5in, (40mm) should also be normalized;

4. If approved by the buyer, a cooling rate greater than air cooling is allowed to improve toughness, but the steel plate need to be taken tempered treatment under the temperature in the range of 1100-1300 ° F (595-705 ℃);
