  Details:
 Introduction

TJC Steel Group is proud to present the A517GrE/A517 Grade E high-strength alloy steel plate, a premium material specifically designed for use in pressure vessels and other critical applications requiring exceptional strength and durability. This plate undergoes a rigorous quenched and tempered heat treatment process, resulting in unparalleled mechanical properties and performance under extreme conditions.

Chemical Composition

The A517GrE/A517 Grade E alloy steel plate boasts a carefully balanced chemical composition that contributes to its superior qualities. Key elements include:

- Carbon (C): 0.12% - 0.20%

- Silicon (Si): 0.10% - 0.40%

- Manganese (Mn): 0.40% - 0.70%

- Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.025%

- Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.025%

- Molybdenum (Mo): 0.40% - 0.60%

- Chromium (Cr): 1.40% - 2.00%

- Additional trace elements such as Nickel (Ni), Copper (Cu), Titanium (Ti), and Boron (B) may also be present in optimized amounts.

The combination of these elements ensures a high degree of strength, toughness, corrosion resistance, and weldability.

Mechanical Properties

The A517GrE/A517 Grade E plate excels in its mechanical properties, particularly in terms of strength and ductility:

- Yield Strength: ≥ 690 MPa when the thickness is ≤ 65 mm

- Tensile Strength: 795 MPa - 930 MPa

- The plate also demonstrates excellent impact toughness and fatigue strength, ensuring stable performance even under prolonged and demanding service conditions.

Heat Treatment State

The A517GrE/A517 Grade E plate is delivered in a quenched and tempered condition. This involves heating the plate to a temperature not less than 900°C, followed by quenching in water or oil, and finally tempering at a temperature not less than 620°C. This process significantly enhances the plate's mechanical properties and ensures consistent performance across various applications.

Producible Size Range

TJC Steel Group offers A517GrE/A517 Grade E plates in a wide range of dimensions to suit various project requirements:

- Thickness: 8 mm - 150 mm

- Width: 1600 mm - 3200 mm

- Length: 5000 mm - 17000 mm

Low-Temperature Impact Testing

To ensure the plate's reliability in cold environments, it undergoes rigorous low-temperature impact testing. The Charpy V-notch impact test is conducted at a mutually agreed temperature, not exceeding 0°C (32°F), with the lateral expansion of the specimen not less than 0.38 mm (0.015 inches). This ensures the plate's resistance to brittle fracture under low-temperature conditions.

Primary Applications

The A517GrE/A517 Grade E high-strength alloy steel plate finds extensive application in various industries, including:

- Petrochemical Industry: Pressure vessels, spherical tanks, heat exchangers, and other critical equipment.

- Maritime Industry: Shipbuilding plates, offshore platforms, and other marine structures.

- Mining and Construction: Drilling rigs, electric shovels, dump trucks, mining vehicles, and heavy-duty earthmoving equipment.

- Power Generation: Boilers and other pressure-bearing components in power plants.

- Oil and Gas Exploration: Rigs, pipelines, and other infrastructure.
